(TORONTO) — Are we what we eat? Internationally renowned Toronto food photographer, Doug Bradshaw, embarked on a culinary exploration to discover the answer to this question. The result is a five part series of lavish, oversized, mouth-watering brochures that capture the visual food experiences and local fare of Shanghai, Barcelona, Nevis, Palermo and Buenos Aries. Armed with a digital camera, several gigabytes of flash memory and using only existing lighting, Doug roamed by the street vendors, into restaurants, through front rooms, out the back rooms and into the kitchens. What he realized, maybe more than any other single aspect of society, the definition of our cultural identity is served up on a daily basis in the food we eat.
